EO+

EO+: Beyond the EOT
Creating employee ownership when an EOT isn't
the answer.

Protect your company when it’s time to sell the business

If the EOT is Canada's newest tool for employee ownership, EO+ is everything else in the toolkit.

EOTs aren’t right for every company. Some owners want to sell in stages. Some want employees to buy in directly. Some want to keep control while still sharing the upside. EO+ is our set of services for building and running these other structures: share purchase plans, stock options, synthetic equity, management buyouts, and hybrid structures.

EO+ lets us build the structure that fits your company, goals, and appetite for change.

We can meet every owner where they are, with the right tool for their situation.

Share Purchase Plans

Employees purchase shares directly, often financed through payroll deduction, company loans, or bonus conversion.

Stock Options

Stock options let employees earn the right to acquire ownership over time, often layered onto an existing compensation structure.

Management Buyouts

An MBO concentrates ownership in the hands of the management team who will run the company day to day.

Synthetic Equity

Phantom stock, stock appreciation rights, and other synthetic equity plans let employees participate in the company's growth in value without holding actual shares.

Hybrid Approaches

Most companies don't fit neatly into a single structure. We regularly combine plans, such as pairing an MBO with synthetic equity for leadership, layering stock options on top of a share purchase plan, or phasing a company from an ESOP toward a future EOT, so the structure evolves as your ownership goals and your business do.

A plan is only as good as the culture built around it.

Designing a structure is only half the work. EO+ includes the implementation that comes after: measuring employee engagement, building the plan committee, assisting with the communication strategy, and giving employees real visibility into what they own and why it matters. We track this with our own engagement tools so your plan keeps delivering value long after the transaction closes.

30 years of ESOP expertise,
alongside our EOT practice.

Through the acquisition of ESOP Builders, Rewrite Capital Advisors has been designing and implementing these structures in Canada for three decades–long before the EOT existed. If an EOT isn’t the right fit, we’ll tell you what is.

EO transactions are complex and require knowledgeable deal leaders who understand the sale. Let us be your partners.
